The genus Neosadocus was described by Mello-Leitão in 1926 and comprises the following species: N. bufo (Mello-Leitão, 1923), N. maximus (Giltay, 1928), N. misandrus (Mello-Leitão, 1934), and N. robustus (Mello-Leitão, 1936). With the preliminary results obtained with studies made so far, we could infer in a general way that the populations of this genus are geographically isolated and that the haplotypes are well preserved in these populations. The informations suggest that the populations of the genus disperse a little or that are possibilities that there are geographic barriers which may complicate the dispersion and/or the contact among populations. Besides verifying the truth about the preliminary results previously mentioned with phylogeographic analysis, we will study the geographic distribution of different populations of the genus and we will show hypothesis to explain this distribution. Neosadocus is a genus in which the identification of species provides difficulties because of the morphological similarities among the species. Keeping this in mind, we will analyse specimens which were collected in different localities and will make a systematic review of the species of the genus using molecular and morphological data. In this project, we will also propose phylogenetic relationships among the species of the genus Neosadocus using a total evidence analysis also with molecular and morphological data. (AU)
