Abstract

This project presents a proposal for Research Internships Abroad Program (BEPE) to be developed in a 12-month period (June 2017 - May 2018), with Professor Manuela Ivone Cunha, Ph.D. from University of Minho in Portugal as advisor. Based on an ethnographic research carried out in different urban areas of São Paulo - including - urban peripheral neighborhoods, prisons, juvenile detention units, psychiatric hospitals and urban territories such as "Cracolândia", its main objective is to relationally grasp the various territories occupied by most marginalized people of the city, highlighting resonances and crossings produced by contemporary control devices which, in multiple aspects, combine: punishment, repression and control; health care, assistance and care. In this end, betting on a sharp porosity among multiple territories of the city, it is relevant to prospect prisons position in contemporary urban experience.
