Abstract

Transcending the textuality of the scientific record: this is a challenge that is being faced timidly in several areas of knowledge. The reasons for this are also varied, and range from requirements imposed by the commodification of science, through the crisis of academic narratives (little accessed by the general public), to challenges posed by new generations of "readers", deeply marked by the visual universe. The big question is: why and how dilute the sovereignty of written text in favor of the use of audio-visual languages? There is a wide range of possible answers, which together provide an overview of the needs and possibilities of scientific narrative in the contemporary world. This proposal for post-doctoral studies aims to discuss them, taking the historiographical field as ground for analysis. To do this we need to attack the problem on several fronts, both in theory - theory of history, film theory, visual studies, visual and sound anthropology, public history, teaching history, decolonial theories - and in its practical consequences, reflecting on the new techniques and its impact on university and school curricula.
