This project intends to study the practices involved in the production of the professional dancer`s body which is the result of body techniques that are learned to become a professional dancer. Thus, the research aims to accompany the beginner dancers on the technique dance course offered by Dance School of the FUNCEB - Cultural Foundation of Bahia, located in Salvador-Bahia, which is free of charge and focused on african descent youths, specially from the peripheries of the city. By observing the beginning of a trajectory of professionalization of dance, the search intends to investigate the process of getting a new corporality, having the body as the focus of the transformation of the person and the way to access the professionalization. Besides that, its possible to observe how the body can be placed in the interior of the dynamics that are not limited on classes, but also establishes a communication with contexts that go beyond the school walls. Therefore, the project seeks to understand how some discursive categories used among the learners of the FUNCEB School of dance are part of the symbolic strategy where the body is the center of the differentiation from other type of dancers.
