Abstract

Introduction: the two-minute walk test (2-MWT) and six minutes (6-MWT) and the test stand up sit down to five repetitions (SD-5rep) are often used in children and adolescents for evaluation of functional capacity both in health and in its aggravations. However, the shortage (6mwt) or absence (TC2 and TLS-5rep) of prediction equations for these tests in children and adolescents confined its proper interpretation. Aim: Establish reference equations to predict the distance walk to the 2-MWT, 6-MWT and time spent in SD-5rep in healthy children and adolescents; secondarily, test the reproducibility of those tests, compare the performance between boys and girls and between different regions of Brazil. Method: transversal, Multicenter Study in which, 960 children and adolescents will be assessed (6 to 17 years). After the anamnesis, spirometry and the application of questionnaires will be carried out (of socioeconomic status and physical activity). The tests will be applied: 2-MWT, 6-MWT, and SD-5rep that should be performed on different days (two to five days apart) as randomization. The drawn test will be performed twice on the same day, with 30-minute interval. Heart rate (HR), blood pressure, pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2), sensation of Dyspnea and fatigue in the lower limbs will be registered at the beginning and at the end of the test. During the test will be monitored HR and SpO2. The dependent variables are: the best distance for testing and time for TLS-5rep and the independent variables are: age, gender, weight, height, body mass index, delta (pico-home), length of the leg and thigh circumference. Expected results: The regression equations derived in this study may be used to determine the reference values for the 2-MWT, 6-MWT, and SD-5rep. (AU)
