Abstract

By the 70s in Brazil, since the emergence of the communicative approach, there is a shift in foreign language teaching focusing itself as a system for the process of learning and communication as a goal of education. In this context, it highlights the authentic material as presenting feature of that language in a real context of use and from which it is possible the teacher to show not only the language, but cultural aspects of the target language. This project aims to discuss the importance of teaching German in a contemporary perspective in the classroom, with special emphasis on the use of the authentic material "TV series" as a methodological didactic input. Our focus will be on the linguistic, socio-political, socio-cultural and ideological aspects of three series, in order to promote greater understanding of the material for use in the classroom. With this intent, we will proceed a qualitative and exploratory research, analyzing the German series Unsere Mütter, Unsere Väter; Deutschland 83 and Sibel und Max, which we consider representative of historical, social periods and different politicians in German history. The relevance of the research is focused on the fact that the series can not only be used in the classroom, but also lead to an expansion of school space, to the extent that constitute an important source of entertainment for many young people, so its pedagogical use should be further explored.
