Abstract

Natural products have been used long ago to relieve pain and cure diseases as well as to control pests and diseases that affect different types of plantations. A valuable source for the discovery of new natural products are microorganisms, especially the endophytic fungi, due to the great diversity of secondary metabolites synthesized through several metabolic pathways. The amount of these unknown compounds are higher than the one produced by microorganisms of other sources. Thus, this research project aims to carry out the chemical study of two strains isolated from Hortia superba in distinct culture media. The crude extracts that will present the greatest potential in the discovery of novel substances will be subjected to fractionation and purification. The identification of pure substances will be carried out using spectroscopic and spectrometric analyses.
