Population aging is closely related to the increase in chronic degenerative diseases. About 10% of people aged over 55 years experience pain and inactivation of knee OA, mainly female. Its manifestation is most common in the knee and its progression can cause pain and disability. In this context, the approach of non-pharmacological treatments such as exercise has to be effective. In addition, resources such as phototherapy have shown promising results Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate the phototherapy effects and a physical exercise protocol resistive, in combination or alone, in pain, functionality, mobility, quality of life, serum degradation biomarkers articular cartilage and muscle strength in patients with knee OA. Will be evaluated 50 patients with OA of the knee will be evaluated and randomized into five groups: Control group (CG, n = 10) without any intervention, Exercise and Laser Group (ELG, n = 10) treatment through exercise protocol associated with active laser irradiation; Exercise and Laser Placebo Group (EPG, n = 10) treatment through exercise protocol associated with placebo laser irradiation; Laser Group (LG, n = 10) treatment alone LLLT irradiation and the Placebo Group (GP, n = 10) treatment alone placebo laser irradiation. The operations will be performed 2x / week for 8 weeks. The exercise program will include heating, strengthening exercises and stretching major muscle groups of the lower limbs for 30 minutes. The cluster (850nm , 100mW , 4 J / point total 56J) will be applied in lower limb more affected. Evaluation and re-evaluation will be applied Questionnaires as the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), Lequesne and Visual Analog Scale of Pain (VAS). In addition, will be applied Timed Up and Go test (TUGT), Short Physical Battery Performance (SPPB), six-minute walk test (6MWT), collections of blood samples for analysis of serum cartilage degradation biomarkers articulate and strength evaluation of lower limbs with load cell. For the data analysis, the normality terms distribution sample will be ascertained to the choice of appropriate statistical tests.
