Abstract

The top sub-basin Battle located in the center of São Paulo, west of the city of Bauru and 340km away from the state capital is of great importance in the water supply of the city. The basin covers a total area of approximately 12.500ha belonging to Treble municipalities, Piratininga and Bauru. The history of land use shows that in the last two decades was the withdrawal of semideciduous tropical forest that covered much of the area, the main consequence of the loss of soil and sedimentation throughout the length of the river battle, caused by particle transport land downstream. The erosion in sub-basins is one of the most damaging processes agricultural productivity and especially the environment related to the transport and deposition of sediments. The application of Equation Universal Soil Loss (USLE) and spatialized GIS using a GIS in analysis of environmental systems are features developed many decades, allows an estimate of the soil loss in watersheds favoring environmental zones and consequently the environmental planning. The use of SIGs are intensified within the geomorphology analysis since this optimizes the work knowledge sphere. Thus, this research project aims to diagnose the loss of soil and erosion risk with application of quantitative model USLE and the use of GIS tools in the sub-basin of the Upper Battle located in the city of Bauru of the São Paulo State.
