Abstract

The presented project aims to conduct an assessment of the expansion of thesugarcane cultivation in sub-basins in the Pontal of Paranapanema region, using as anintegrated technique the Geographic Information System (GIS) using remote sensing products and fields work. Therefore, relief attributes letters will be issued (hypsometry and steepness) land cover letters from the 1990s, 2000 and 2010 taken from the imaging of the Land Remote Sensing Satellite (Landsat) and the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) available on the website of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). The images will be handled through geoprocessing and digital processing of satellite radar images and satellite using a geographic information system, initially using SRTM images to obtain relief attributes and later Landsat images to obtain cover letters from the earth. Therefore, analyzes will be made of changes in land cover, identifying changes over time in quantitative and qualitative terms and elaborate letter synthesis transformations. The letter of land cover changes will be correlated with the relief maps in a GIS environment, and primarily quantified cane growing areas, pastures and forests in different relief compartments as the final product. This final product will be important in funding the understanding of water quality in the canals of the assessed watersheds.
