Abstract

This project sets out to develop hybrid materials composed of NiO nanosheets and spherical gold and palladium nanoparticles. We will focus on simple, green preparation methods, aiming at the synthesis of structures with controlled shape and size and of hybrids with homogeneous component dispersion. M-NiO materials (M = Au, Pd) will be employed as nanocatalysts for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol and for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, and the interaction between metallic nanospheres and metal oxide support will be studied.
