Morphometric analysis of the Cabeça River Basin (SP)

Abstract

The regional context of formation of the Paulista Peripheral Depression and Cuestas are very complex. Ab'Saber (1969) states that due to the marginal denudation process, gradually a large peripheral subsequent depression started to come up, which produced a second landing sediment, developing the relief front cuestiforme towards the inside. The cuestas are called by Troppmair (2000) as a step in geomorphology landscape, being located in the north-south direction of the state, representing an area of 14,000 km2. Thus, the Paulista Peripheral Depression has a well eroded relief and few areas where the same presents a wavy formation (TROPPMAIR, 2000). Therefore, this research aims to study the morphostructural elements which form part the river basin Cabeça, whose sources are in the front and reverse of the cuesta, in order to assess the tectonic influences on regional relief. To achieve this purpose, mappings will be performed, according to the topographic maps of the IBGE, as well as 1988 aerophotogrametric images that will assist the creation of drainage density maps, depth drainage, slope and lineaments. Such procedures will be permform at the ArGis 9.2 program. From the mapping, an evaluation of the data will be performed so the tectonic influences can be identified and also assist a better understanding of the current relief configuration.
