Peasant experience in Mexico: agroecological practices and peasant resistance in the states of Puebla, Oaxaca and Chiapas

Abstract

The theoretical approaches to delineate links between specific forms of work with agroecology or agroecological practices. This enables us to understand that the choice of agroecology is a break of reference, with the concern of the environmental dimension, by which seeks to eradicate the use of chemical inputs, cooperative forms in the family, so as to curb environmental degradation techniques cultivation to consider the dynamics of nature, through consistent work processes. Similarly, the social dimension, with the production of healthy food in diversity and quantity, giving priority to family-based work, and on the basis of the whole process, the cultural dimension, restoring, recovering and readapting traditional techniques work, allowing the maintenance of the identity of the subject of the field involved in agroecological production. These issues are at the root of our concerns to grasp possible correlations between the reality of peasants and indigenous people of Mexico, specifically in the states of Puebla, Oaxaca and Chiapas, to develop their experience of life on earth by practices similar to agroecology. For this, we intend to investigate what their practices, ways of life and work, struggles and resistance, and establish approaches to the peasantry the Pontal do Paranapanema (São Paulo - Brazil) originating in the struggle for access to land, from the years nineteen ninety.
