Preterm Labor (PTL) and Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM) are responsible for severe perinatal morbidity and neonatal mortality worldwide. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) can affect gestational outcome and are potential biomarkers for these complications. Exosomes act in cell communication, contain miRNAs and increase their stability. Objective: To compare the expression, in exosomes from peripheral blood, of the miRNAs miR-143-3p, miR-145-5p and miR-199a-5p between women with term pregnancies and PTL or PPROM. Patients and methods: Case-control study with women that underwent PTL, PPROM, term pregnancy with and without labor and non-pregnant women seen at Botucatu Medical School. Exosomes will be isolated from plasma and expression of miRNAs will be performed by Real Time PCR. Statistical analysis will be performed according to the results obtained and a p-value of 5% will be adopted.
