Abstract

In recent years, the search for new materials has gained attention of many researchers, become it attractive to develop nanostructured composite capable for being applied as devices for the detection of species of interest. Therefore, biosensors stand out, since they comprise biomolecules and other nanometric compounds, which confer advantageous qualities such as high sensitivity, selectivity, low analysis time and reduced costs. The polymer characteristics such as zein are high starch concentration, biocompatibility, biodegradability, low toxicity and ability to form stable dispersions in aqueous solutions corroborate that it can present the support function of nanomaterials and biological materials. Carbon black is a material already used in electroanalytical devices because it has interesting electrochemical properties. Since hemoglobin is a protein biomolecule it can be used for obtaining biosensors, once can assign features to improve considerably the performance of these devices. Accordingly, hemoglobin is has the heme group, which provides high selectivity and sensitivity to hydrogen peroxide. Thus, this project seeks proposals for new biosensor architectures using hemoglobin, carbon black, and zein. Moreover, we intend apply the proposed biosensor in the determination hydrogen peroxide in biological and cosmetic samples.
