Abstract

Vulvar Squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC) corresponds 95% of vulvar tumors. Survival is determined by the commitment of the inguinal lymph nodes and it shows good prognosis when early diagnosed.Generally the uprising of these tumors in younger women is related to infection by human papilloma virus (HPV). The surgical treatment, despite being effective, can be mutilating and lead to serious psychosocial damage to patients. Although, studies have evaluated the molecular aspects involved in the prognosis of the VSCC, little is known about the mechanisms that determine the biological behavior of this tumor. In previous study, our group has observed a significant increase in expression of tetraspanin (TSPAN) in these tumors, moreover, in HPV-positive samples, two of these proteins showed a significant positivity in the nucleus of the cells. This project is part of a grant, requested from this sponsor agency, which aims to evaluate the role of some of these proteins and their functions in VSCC cell culture. The protein CD151 was included in the study, because it is being widely described in the literature about viral infection related carcinogenesis. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the expression of CD151. Cell cultures 954 SW (ATCC ® HTB-117 ") and SW 962 (ATCC ® HTB-117 ") will be used to evaluate the expression profiles of CD151, using quantitative PCR and Western blot.
