Abstract

This abroad internship research project is proposed within the development of the Post-Doctoral Research entitled "The New Generation of Rap and the Cultural Industry", carried out at Unicamp/ Brazil and supported by FAPESP. The main goal of the latter is to discuss the relationship of the "new generation" of paulistano rappers, especially Criolo and Emicida, with the mass media and the phonograph industry. We seek to understand the implications of the rap´s expansion, beyond the periphery, through a sociohistorical study, highlighting the relationship between race and class. It is believed that an internship in France will allow substantial contributions to the ongoing research both regarding the increase of the bibliographic database and the maturation of the theoretical and methodological comprehension of the object, as well as the input of new data for reflection, notably with regard to the production circuit of the French rap, insofar as France is the second largest producer of rap in the world. Therefore, we aimed the internship in Paris at the Centre de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Karim Hammou. Besides the intense production of rap, I will research in a Centre where there is quite interest in the developing of the theme, and under the supervision of an expert. (AU)
