Abstract

The decline in dental caries in the last two decades has been attributed to the widespread use of fluorides. Some of the presentations are fluoridated toothpastes, of great use by the population. The present project proposal is to evaluate, in situ, the ability of fluoridated toothpastes and supplemented with sodium trimetaphosphate nanoparticulate (TMPnano), to reduce the demineralization of enamel and its effect on biofilms. bovine blocks (n = 192) will be selected through the initial surface hardness (SHI) and then twelve volunteers (n = 12) use palatal appliances containing 4 enamel blocks for 7 days in 4 experimental phases: 1) Dentifrice without F/TMP/TMPnano (Placebo); 2) Toothpaste F 1100 ppm (F); 3) 1100 ppm F dentifrice associated with 3% TMP microparticle (F + TMP) and 4) toothpaste 1100 ppm associated with 3% TMPnano (F + TMPnano). The cariogenic challenge will be produced by using a sucrose 30% solution. After the trial is performed to analyze the fluoride content (F), calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) and alkali-soluble carbohydrates. In enamel blocks will be determined the hardness of the end surface (SHF) for calculating the surface hardness loss percentage (% SH). the most appropriate statistical test to the distribution of the data will be used by the statistical program Sigmaplot © software for Windows version 12.0, with a significance of 5%.
