Abstract

The elderly population presents a number of oral changes, the most common being, decreased salivary flow, affecting, in turn, the period of adaptation to complete dentures. The objective of this study is to quantify the salivary flow and evaluate the presence of xerostomia in denture users served by discipline Total Prosthesis, Faculty Estadual Paulista "Julio de Mesquita Filho" UNESP, Araçatuba-SP, correlating future data with time adaptation of patients to new conventional dentures, analyzing a total of 20 patients. Therefore, the analysis of salivary flow will be assessed by sialometry test with salivary secretion at rest or unstimulated (FSNE) and stimulated (ESF). The values of salivary flow will be used to determine the possible increase time in the patient's adaptation to new conventional dentures. The data will be subjected to statistical normality tests and specific tests to verify the significance between the mean (p=0,05).
