Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the peri implant bone repair in rats submitted to ovariectomy and treated with Strontium ranelate (625mg / kg / day). Thirty-six (36) female rats, weighing approximately 300 grams, will be divided into 3 groups according to drug treatment: SHAM group, 12 rats submitted to sham surgery; OVX group, 12 rats submitted to ovariectomy surgery and without drug treatment; Group RAN-Sr, 12 rats submitted to ovariectomy surgery and treated with Strontium ranelate. Each animal will receive 2 implants with 1 in each tibial metaphysis. The analyzes to be performed are the microtomography three-dimensional (Micro-CT) and immunohistochemistry for immunoblotting of proteins that characterize the osteoblast differentiation process (will be evaluated RUNX-2, osteopontin and osteocalcin) and alkaline phosphatase. The quantitative data will be subjected to statistical test of normality and homoscedasticity, applied a parametric or non-parametric test. For all data is considered to be 5% significance level.
