Abstract

Over many years the use of biomaterial and especially PLA / PGA in various presentations has been studied. The aim of this study is to evaluate the behavior of a biomaterial presented as PLA / PGA membrane as a substitute for bone grafting in techniques of maxillary sinus lifting surgery through histological, immunohistochemical and histometric. It will be used twenty (20) rabbits "Albinus" that will undergo bilateral sinus lifting surgery by nasal access. The maxillary sinus on the right side will be filled with blood clot and biomaterial on the left by membrane of PLA/PGA. After periods of 3, 10, 20 and 40 days, the animals will be euthanasied, after that jaw will be removed, for histological, histometric and immunochemistry analysis. Statistical analysis will be a comparation between control and treated group. Statistical test will be selected by distribution of results data in related to normal values.
