Abstract

The preservation of the planet became an issue that aims to reduce the effects of anthropogenic action on the environment, since at the industrial development has environmental pollution. While on one hand science and technology bring benefits for humans, on the other it has caused harm to the environment. In the mining industry is no different, these industries must reconcile income with preservation of resources and as such is established in Brazilian environmental laws. Nowadays, there are mining waste recovery trend or waste generated in the production process. The goal of this study is the separation of metals from a liquor produced in the leaching of a residue of nickel mining through the technique of ion exchange resins. Initially, a synthetic solution will be prepared to simulate the liquor, then the Fe+3 ion is reduced to Fe+2 and then the liquor will be followed for the ion separation step using chelating resins. In order to determine the amount of metal contained in the resin liquid is analyzed using X-ray fluorescence energy dispersive technique (EDX) and by ion chromatography. (AU)
