Abstract

Baccharis L. is one the genera of largest diversity in Asteraceae comprising several species used for medicinal purposes and the produced compounds have various bioactivities. However, few studies have regarded the chemical and biological diversity of the microorganisms associated with this genus native of Highland fields. The aim of this project is to explore the metabolome of endophytic fungi associated to Baccharis oblongifolia (Ruiz & Pav.) Pers. as source of crude extracts and new bioactive compounds. After the isolation of endophytes, the fungi crude extracts will be prepared and subjected to bioassays for evaluation of antifungal, antiradical and cytotoxic activities. Bioactive crude extracts will be analyzed and the metabolites identified. Thus, this project will contribute to the expansion of knowledge about the chemical and biological diversity and bioactive potential of endophytic fungi from Baccharis species. (AU)
