Abstract

This work focus on the application of active control technology by using piezoelectric materials for the structural vibration control in helicopters caused by unstable phenomenon known as ground resonance helicopters that can carry the complete destruction of the aircraft in a few seconds. The Newton-Euler will be used in mathematical modeling of the rotor-blades-fuselage assembly. Each helicopter blade is modeled as an Euler-Bernoulli's beam containing embedded piezoelectric materials. The assumed modes method is used for constructing the nominal model of the plant and it will be assigned a constant aerodynamic profile along its length and cross section. Due to inherent uncertainties inserted in the mathematical formulation procedure, the present work proposes the robust controller design for this control problem. The fundamental formulation of this controller is discussed and its robustness, stability and performance are shown through numeric simulations. (AU)
