This project proposes to know the curricular composition of the Liceu Literário Português do Rio de Janeiro, during the last years of the Brazilian Empire, taking it as a result of the need of making a curriculum that could attend certain social demands of that time. We intend to do, first, an analysis of the policy reforms related to education during this period, and after that study of the evolution of the school curriculum of the Liceu Literário in the Municipality of the Court. Therefore, it should be noted the didactic-curricular organization of that establishment during the period of the Second Empire of Brazil trying to identify the trajectory of his curricular making. This project will be guided by the primary sources, constituted by the archives of the Liceu Literíario Português, and by secondary sources, represented by the studies on the subject in different institutions in the same historical period, establishing parallels between the curriculum of the Liceu and other educational institutions that coexisted until the end of the Brazilian Empire.
