Simaroubaceae comprises 22 genera of shrubs or trees with pantropical distribution. Simaba Aubl., the largest genus of the family, presents 21 species in Brazil distributed in several environments. Although bioactive compounds have already been described for some species of Simaba, there are not any data about its cuticular wax composition. Therefore, the main goal of this project is to analyze the chemical and morphological characteristics of the leaf cuticular waxes of Brazilian species of Simaba looking for some correlation of these data with the taxa and/or their habitat.
