Metaphoricity and aesthetic figuration in Paul Ricoeur

Abstract

This project examines the possibility of an aesthetic theory from the poetic philosophy of Paul Ricoeur. A kind of metaphoricity would be present in the works of art, and the metaphor would be an ideal model for the analysis of figurative art, polifigurative (sculpture) and figuration under allusive form (abstract painting). The expansion of metaphor theory to other aesthetic experiences, going beyond the works of literature analyzed by Ricoeur, allows you to change the vocabulary used by him and continued by the commentators of his poetic. The modification to terms suggested by the author - for example, Lebensform (Wittgenstein) rather than Lebenswelt (Husserl) - reinserts the ricSurian issue of figuration in contemporary debate on the understanding of the artwork. The Seeing as in the reading of the metaphorical work will lead the research on the cognitive aspects of aesthetic experience. The heuristic redescription function, common to the theory of metaphor and scientific models, which in turn, is the topic that will lead the research on the fictional aspects and also for the intelligibility in hermeneutics and its junction with the philosophy of the image. The thesis proposes a coherent aesthetic formulation with ricoeurian poetic as well as semantically intelligible analysis of the notion of metaphorical truth. (AU)
