Abstract

The intensification of the urbanization process the cities of the Amazon in recent years resulted in large spatial and social transformations. This process incorporated distant areas and was responsible for restructuring these cities according to the set of actions implemented in the municipalities. These cities of the Amazon have the predominance of small urban areas and have weak or no infrastructure and an economy heavily dependent on public resources and forest. Despite these "urban" look homogeneous, are well distinct and with its own characteristics, many of these cities are strongly connected with the forest, which largely is the economic base of the city, while others have economic links with industry. The municipalities located in the Delta, as well as other Brazilian cities are hierarchical according to population size and with different realities, these cities should be individualized by means of its spatial configuration, because they have economic and social dynamics. In this sense, this project intends to examine, clipping space using as the Amazon River delta municipalities, the differentiation between the different small urban and rural municipalities, emphasizing the changes between the years of 1990 and 2014, considering the socio-economic dynamics that occurred throughout this period. Will be selected riverside cities and industrial samples, small businesses whose economy is linked directly to the forest resources, or resources from industry, and connected directly with the urban network, so that in this way it is possible to understand the different urban Amazon Delta. This research aims to contribute to the discussion of how this forest adds paradoxes between the various urban. Despite the urban network of the Amazon have gone through a restructuring process, the cities on this process, affirmed its role as a productive market structure, but this factor was decisive for a rupture with the old urban, or with its ancient forms of spatial organization. That's what this project intends to discuss.
