Abstract

Physical Education fits as an occupation which has gained professional representation using mechanisms to claim new jurisdictions and social status. However, it is unclear how constitute such mechanisms that support physical education in their professionalization process. Given this context, this work has the core objective knowing the devices and agents regulating physical education in the workplace and in the academic field, and how they influence the maintenance of occupational position and its professionalization process. This study will be quantitative and qualitative, descriptive and exploratory. We assume that the profession is an intraprofissional (interactions with the external environment to the occupation) and interprofessional (interactions with peers and between the segments themselves) system. Documentary evidence will be raised about the administrative, practical and academic segments of physical education professional with professional regulatory institutions of the State of California and by the State University of California - East Bay campus. The qualitative material will be analyzed through categorization and content analysis and will serve to map the demands, disputes, adjustments to the professional system in the United States. The data will be used as a source for comparative analysis of Physical Education professionalism. (AU)
