Abstract

This proposal for student visitor grant is linked to the master's research titled: "Guanabara Railway Complex (Campinas-SP): study on preservation practices and social uses of the railway heritage" (FAPESP 2015 / 07596-1) . Moreover, this effort will contribute to the implementation of a specific goal of our research that deals reflect on the equity recommendations and contemporary practices in relation to historic areas, in particular on rail industrial assets in Brazil and some relevant cases at the international level. In this sense, the stage to be held in Sevilla / Spain aims to identify theoretical foundations that guide the reuse of railroad heritage in order to improve the consideration of guidelines, conservation practices and uses of historic areas by social agents. Therefore, the chosen work methodology includes literature surveys; technical visits in locus followed by the application of reuse plug in selected areas; documentary research (in Andaluz del Patrimonio Historico Institute (IAPH) and the activation of laboratory production facilities (SevLAB)) and a case study in Villanueva del Rio y Minas. We stay a month to technical visit an English railway site (Swindon, UK) as other reusing comparative example too. Implementation of the methodological tools will enhance the advancement in the study of conservation guidelines, management and reuse of industrial heritage. Substantial knowledge that will be produced will give us theoretical and methodological basis in order to generate a proposal of good practices on reactivation of the railway industrial heritage.
