Abstract The hadronic tau decays are an important source of information about QCD since their description is theoretically clean. In particular, the strong coupling (alpha_s) can be extracted with competitive precision. However, a source of theoretical uncertainty persists, namely, what is the best prescription for the use of the renormalization group in the optimization of the perturbative series. In this work, we will use the method of Pade approximants to extract information about the perturbative series in intermediate and higher orders. The results should contribute to the solution of this ambiguity and therefore to improve the knowledge of alpha_s. (AU) | |
