As the transvestites were seen in the films of boca do lixo: the case of O Sexo dos Anormais

Abstract

This research project aims to analyze the presence of transvestites and transsexuals in the Brazilian film production of the 80's, located at the Boca do Lixo, São Paulo, taking as focus of analysis the character Jessica, played by Claudia Wonder, in the film "O Sexo dos anormais " Alfredo Sternhein produced during 1984 and launched in February 1985 in São Paulo. From a bibliographical and documentary research on aspects of representations of gender and sexuality in the mouth movie, we intend to investigate: a) as the character Jessica appears represented within the plot of the film O Sexo dos Anormais; b) speeches of the time about transvestites and transsexuals, mobilized in the construction of this representation of that character.
