Abstract

The use of natural compounds or isolated molecules, with or without other drugs, is becoming a therapeutic alternative for antimicrobial resistance. Gallic acid (GA) is one of the molecules detected in extracts of plants that showed promising fungistatic activity. The aim of this study is to investigate the antifungal effect of combinations AG, amphotericin B (AB) and fluconazole (Fluc) against Candida albicans. AG, and AB Fluc will be obtained commercially. The effect of combinations on planktonic cells will be detected by the checkerboard method. The effect of the combinations of AB+AG and AG+Fluc in biofilm formation will be evaluated, as well as for eradication of pre-formed biofilm. The cytotoxic potential of combinations of AG+AB and AG+Fluc will be evaluated on fibroblasts. The data obtained will be evaluated by means of descriptive statistics and normal distribution analysis. Based on these preliminary analyzes, statistical tests of comparison will be selected. The level of significance is 5%.
