In a scenario energy crisis and environmental problems, there is great interest in developing new materials with attractive emission properties of visible light for the development of electro-optical devices or may actively act as photocatalysts in the degradation of organic pollutants. In this context, silver-based materials have promising properties since they exhibit high performance in the photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes as well as bactericidal activity and photoluminescence. For these reasons, this research project aims to investigate the photoluminescent properties and photocatalytic powders Ag4P2O7, Ag3PO4, Ag3-2xNixPO4 and Ag3-2xCuxPO4. The Ag4P2O7 crystals are synthesized by coprecipitation method. While the powders Ag3PO4, Ag3-2xNixPO4 and Ag3-2xCuxPO4 will be synthesized by hydrothermal method assisted by microwave. The crystallinity of these materials will be studied by the technique of X-ray diffraction (XRD). Raman spectroscopy and absorption in the infrared (FT-IR) are used to identify structural units thereof. The morphology will be evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM). The absorption spectroscopy in the ultraviolet and visible regions (UV-vis) and photoluminescence (PL) will be employed in order to analyze the optical properties of powders. The photocatalytic activity of these materials under UV light will be studied from experiments involving the degradation of aqueous solutions of rhodamine organic dye B (Rh B).
