Abstract

This project will examine the work of Oswald de Andrade through his reception and reading of Nietzsche's philosophy. It is based on the problematization of Nietzsche's conception of art. It is an investigation about how the author of João Miramar and Serafim Ponte Grande added in his intellectual production characteristics of Nietzsche's thought, that made the modernist author one of the most fruitful sources of Nietzsche's reception in the Brazilian modernism and culture. In a first step, there will be analyzed central aspects of Nietzsche's criticism over Christian morality and the crystallization in this thought of the artist as "holder" of an aesthetic ideal that he puts as antipode to the Christian priest. Therefore, it is essential to problematize the inherent relationship between instinct, moral values and sexuality that these figures of thought are carrying in itself.Subsequently an analytical inventory of forms and philosophical contents of the two authors will reveal the dynamics of their ethical spheres, morals and politics, since they synthesize, through its ancient and modern references intrinsic elements of a particular way of expression and approach of man as well as modern artist. That done, the foundation for the analysis of Oswald de Andrade's reading of Nietzschean philosophy, will be laid.Showing the insertion of Nietzsche's thought in the Oswaldian work, also considering his political and aesthetic essays, the final phase of this project will present a counterpoint to the reviews of Nietzsche's legacy, reproduced, sometimes in the critical essays of the novelist. Assessments that, almost without exception, characterize the work of Oswald de Andrade as an unsystematic and irrational alleged verve, foisted similarly to the work of the author of Zarathustra (AU)
