Impact of cleft lip and palate on general health-related quality of life of teenagers

Abstract

This study will evaluate the impact of cleft lip and palate on general-health related quality of life of teenagers. Ninety-two teenagers aged between 14 and 17 years will be selected. The selected teenagers will be divided into three groups: Group I - cleft lip and alveolus; Group II - complete cleft lip and palate; Group III: complete cleft palate. General health-related quality of life of the teenagers will be assessed by applying the Brazilian adapted and validated version of the Short-form Health Survey (SF-36). The following secondary data will be collected from each study participant: age, gender, race, and socioeconomic level. The statistically analysis will comprise the appropriate non-parametric tests and level of significance of 5% (p<0.05). In the description of the results, tables and graphs with absolute and relative values will be used.
