Microalgae are eukaryotes, unicellular, and photosynthetic organisms, with high potential to produce lipids acids, pigments such as carotenoids and chlorophylls, as well as other metabolites capable to be applied in food and pharmaceutical industries and cosmetics. This project intend to evaluate the biotechnological potential of two microalgal species, Neochloris oleoabundans UTEX 1185 e Ankistrodesmus braunni UTEX 245 for evaluating of their application in cosmetic industries. Both microalgal species will be cultivated in 3.5 L air-lift tubular phobioreactors, under different conditions to optimize the cellular growth and its productivity, thus leading an increment in the productivity of high added-value biocompounds, such as lipids acids, pigments, proteins, as well as other metabolites with photoprotective and antioxidant activities. These activities will be tested in microalgae extracts and finally, the molecular structure of the compounds will be proposed.
