The solo in contemporary dance: reflection and investigations pratical-theoretical of the body in creative process

Abstract

The present of master research project has as an object study a practical and theoretical investigation about a way to make dance that has become emblematic in the currently contemporary dance: the Solo. The research will be subsidized by the study of the thoughts developed by authors such as Laurence Louppe, Michel Foucault, Stuart Hall and aesthetic-philosophical assumptions discussed and presented by artists and researchers of the arts scene in Brazil, cited in the project.It will be developed in parallel an analysis of the artistic trajectory of the researcher from three solos landmarks: "Ovelhas" - developed in the beginning of the dance degree course at the State University of Campinas, "Nunca Mais Bom Crioulo" - completion of work of this same course and "Sismos e Volts" - last solo experiment conducted in 2013-2014, after four years of graduation. As part of the research methodology will be selected two active artists of contemporary dance in the city of São Paulo, who will be interviewed from a specific choreographic work of each of them. In addition, as part of the methodology, will be developed a solo dance experiment, elaborate from the investigation of all these processes, in order to move bodily concepts in this research, that are seen as fundamental to the contemporary dance, namely, the necessary presence of the subject in the contemporary dance. It is hoped that this research develop an argument for an observable phenomenon and observed in the panorama of contemporary dance, which is the tendency to develop solo works, crisscrossing the own experience with the contemporary dance artists' experiences, and Brazilian and international theoretical references.
