Abstract

Cell culturing has become an indispensable tool for distinct areas of knowledge, particularly in the field of molecular genetics. THP-1 cells consist in a human monocytic lineage which might be a good model for in vitro studies, and its differentiation would clarify some mechanisms of gene regulation, physiological functions and some other biological aspects of the macrophage, as defense and secretory mechanisms. This study, therefore, aims to standardize THP-1 culturing cells and anti-inflammatory drugs in culture, in order to assist the evaluation of miRNAs response, involved in the inflammatory response of sickle cell patients with leg ulcers.
