Abstract

This project presents a proposal in Scientific Initiation level in the area of electromagnetic transient phenomena on electric systems. For the proposed studies, it will be used the theory of transmission lines. As the transmission line modeling can be applied to the transmission line of power supply systems and also in transmission of signals in high-frequency data transmission systems, the proposal introduce wave propagation concepts that are important for analysis both mentioned systems. The objective of this work is to study the effects of electromagnetic transients in transmission lines, using digital models that become very useful tools, it is not feasible to conduct tests in real transmission lines, as well as in data transmission systems. Initially, the mathematical modeling of a transmission line based on À circuit, describing parameters considered constant and independent of frequency. A single-phase representation of the transmission lines is approximated by means of a cascade of À circuits. This cascade will be mathematically represented by equations of state. However, the use of the parameters in the representation throughout line frequency range may result in answers that do not represent reality, therefore, the influence of the frequency can be introduced. Inserting the effect of frequency on a line represented by À circuits connected in cascade, the frequency band in which such a modeling reaches saturation is investigated. In this case, procedures are used to increase the amount of À circuits or make changes to the internal structure of each À circuit. The goal is to improve the results of simulations using this type of modeling, reducing the influence of unwanted oscillations present in such numerical simulations and generated by numerical method of mathematical model solution.
