Global energy is strongly dependent on fossil fuels, therefore, about 80% of world consumption comes from these sources. This situation requires changes not only due the exhaustion of these reserves, but also due the negative effects to the environment. This problem is followed by the increase in world population and per capita energy consumption. The scientific development points to the use of new technology based on sustainable processes with renewable materials, as to improve second-generation biofuels also known as cellulosic ethanol (or G2) through the use of sugarcane bagasse, a renewable raw material and abundant. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance time domain (TD-NMR) is a non-invasive and low cost technique capable to measure the longitudinal (T1) and transverse (T2) relaxation time of hydrogen nuclei, the latter using the following Carr-Purcell Meiboom-Gill pulse (CPMG). In analyzes of this biomass the relaxation times will be observed to infer the mobility of water located inside these structures for further evaluation porosity compared to various types of pre-treatment (steam explosion, hydrothermal process and acid). In addition to the low-field NMR techniques, solid state NMR will be used to analyze the structural changes in different types of pre-treatments applied in order to propose new training process optimization mechanisms of soluble sugars to formation of ethanol G2.
