Abstract

Metal fiber laminates was used in the first time in 1980, presenting as the first constituents ARALL (aramid reinforced aluminum) and GLARE (glass aluminum reinforced), both from the Delft University. Recently, the more studied and used in aircrafts is the Glare. This research project is inovaste since is considered the use of thermoplastic resin as matrix and titanium as a metal. This way, since this is a new hibrid metal fiber laminate, it is necessary the study of Ti surface properties and how these properties can be modified, by different surface treatments. After these treatments, the surface will be characterized by roughness, contact angle and microscopy techniques. Following, it will be done the processing of metal fiber laminate using hot compression molding technique. The last step will be ultrasound, interlaminar shear and ENF tests.
