Abstract

This project aims to compare areas of active (ie, where seedlings were planted for the recovery of forest) and passive restoration (ie, that rely on natural regeneration process) in relation to the structure of bird communities (ie, abundance, richness, composition) and their functional profile. It also aims to assess the influence of landscape around restored areas on bird communities. Birds will be sampled using the methodology of fixed points in actively and passived restored areas located in the realm of semideciduous forests in São Paulo. Functional characteristics of bird species will be defined based on morphological data and use of resources, which are directly or indirectly related to ecosystem processes and functions.
