Abstract

The temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) associated with hippocampal sclerosis (HS) is the most common form of intractable epilepsy and manifests with changes in episodic memory, as is already known for some time, and executive functions, which are being studied more today. The evidence on anatomical changes in temporal and extratemporal structures and the correlation with mental retardation are still limited and we know little about the way in which the pathology of the hippocampus affects daily activities. With a multiple approach, we seek to correlate volumetry of temporal and extratemporal structures and measures the integrity of white matter tracts with neuropsychological performance in executive functions in patients with unilateral mesial temporal sclerosis, right or left.
