In the current context of global warming and increasing expansion and intensification of production systems. In developing countries, located in tropical regions predominantly hot, it is assumed that farm animals will be increasingly exposed to heat stress conditions. Thus, the objective of this project is to evaluate the potential use of a precision feeding system (Automated Intelligent Precision Feeder - AIPF) as technological and nutritional strategy to mitigate the effects of heat stress in growing pigs. Twenty four barrows weighing approximately 25 kg will be used and will have a total period of 66 days (10 days for adaptation + 56 days of experiment) in chambers with temperature control. The animals will be housed in individual cages in a completely randomized design with factorial arrangement of treatments 2 × 2 (two thermal environments: thermoneutral environment of 22 ° C and acute heat stress 34 ° C, and two feeding programs: conventional feeding by phases and precision feeding diets adjusted daily). For this purpose, it is intended to compare performance, hormonal and physiological parameters (body temperature, respiratory rate, thyroid hormones), protein turnover using the end-product method with 15N-glycine, through the technique of stable isotopes in growing pigs. This project is expected to contribute to the further development of the AIPF in environmental conditions of high temperature, thus contributing to the sustainability and viability of pig production systems in tropical countries such as Brazil.
