The Industrial Revolution in the eighteenth century began a new phase of social and economic development, but resulted in the intensification of the generation of solid, liquid and gaseous waste from production processes, which are disposed of incorrectly, especially in limnic environments (i.e. lotic and lentic), resulting in fresh water sources contaminated and polluted. The Tiete River is an example of contaminated rivers, because it is the target of tons of garbage thrown on the street and runoff from urban sewage, which starts in the city of Mogi das Cruzes. In this way, this research project aims to analyze the quality of the Tietê River stretches of water located in Mogi das Cruzes city using the Water Quality Index (AQI) and Trophic State Index (TSI), and to produce a map of land use and occupation around the areas of collection to obtain a general diagnosis of the environmental quality of the river Tietê. To obtain the diagnosis will be done two collections (in the flood and drought), which are located one before and one after passing by the city. Therefore, the samples will be examined on limnological variables and the results obtained will be used in the calculation of indices applied in Limnology (water quality index and trophic state index), statistical analyzes will be performed (t test) to check the existence of changes in periods of drought and flood in water quality, and they are evaluated according to the CONAMA 357/05 legislation.
