Abstract

K-Pop, that means Korean pop, is one of the main movements of Hallyu Wave, the dissemination of South Korean culture around the world. K-Pop get Power through dramas, the equivalent of Latin America soup operas; through the news from websites, like Soompi.com and Allkpop.com. In the dramas, the partnership with K-Pop is very common and strong, because it promotes as musical style and the television production. K-Pop can be present from the subject, until the acting and on the soundtrack of the doramas. The availability of these dramas on internet, through fan subs, websites or blogs created by fans; and official websites like DramaFever.com, is one of the principal forms to have access to Korean culture, and claim K-Pop worldwide. Certainly the participation and effort of the fan is what keeps this cultural movement and makes its globalization possible, but this is not always enough. On Latin America, it is possible to say that it's still on process of reception, due to a number of factors like, for example, the lack of traditional media support and the difficulty to produce events, what that limits the K-Pop expansion. However the way like Korean pop is consumed varies in each country. Chile is a good example of Latin American country in which K-Pop seems to consolidate with a great success, therefore, understanding the situation of the movement can helps to foresee a promising future or the decadence of this cultural movement that is still growing on Latin America.
