Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis is an important method for obtaining fractions of protein from both blood and urine, this method is important to glomerulopathies evaluation. It is proposed with this assay to investigate tubule-glomerular alterations by electrophoresis. Twenty dogs naturally infected with Ehrlichia canis will be used in the acute phase. For the control group, 10 healthy dogs without clinical and laboratory alterations will be used for this proposal. Serology and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) evaluation for Ehrlichia sp, Leptospira sp., Anaplasma sp., and Babesia sp., will be also investigated in all groups. The animals will be selected from the routine of Veterinary Teaching Hospital UNIFRAN. With this experiment will be possible to understand proteinuria´s origin and assess the tubular and glomerular contribution in renal injury in acute canine ehrlichiosis.
