Abstract

This project aims to study the phase transformations of the Cu-15.02at.%Al-10.53at.%Mn-1.61at.%Ag, Cu-15.02at.%Al-10.53at.%Mn-1.61at.%Gd and Cu-15.02at.%Al-10.53at.%Mn-1.61at.%Ga alloys using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and optical microscopy (OM). The stable and metastable phase transformations in Cu-Al and Cu-Al-Mn systems are well known, but can be modified with Ag, Gd and Ga additions, thus showing and/or enhancing some interesting properties in the quaternary alloys.
