Abstract This research aims to look into the guitaristic style employed by Egberto Gismonti in the track "Quarto Mundo" (Fourth World) present in the album Dança das Cabeças (Dance of the Heads-1976), regarding the compositional procedures and the structure of your eight string acoustic guitar associated to the percussions of Naná Vasconcelos. Futhermore, through the methodological framework of the style analysis and the musical topoi analysis, searches to understand the relation of these procedures with his aesthetical conception elements, creative process and the context of the referred production.
